The Songwriter

Artist: I agree with David Crosby when he writes, “Time is the final currency.”

When a listener gives me their time, I will make it worth their while. Depth in a three-minute story song is a great way to say, “Thanks for listening.”

My song-writing heroes have left their stamp on my heart. Let me mention a few of these influential writers: Guy Clark, Janis Ian, Jerry Jeff, Bruce Cockburn, Sibelius, Joe Ely, Eric Andersen, Glenn Tilbrook, Neil Finn, Keven Welch, Charlie Rich, and Augie Meyers. In fact, the greatest moment I’ve known as a song writer was when Augie opened his ‘Blame It On Love’ CD with my song ‘Autumn Eyes’. I also thank the following artists for recording my tunes: Jany Szabo, Pam Loe, Alexandria, Dale Watson, Juliett Lane, Land and Hildebrand, Chris Clark, Charlie Rich, Jr., and Delaney Bramlett.

A few highlights of my solo performing career were opening for Waylon Jennings, Ernest Tubb, Jerry Jeff Walker, Patty Loveless, and a solo spot in the middle of the Charlie Rich Show at The American Royal in Kansas City, Missouri. (The folks back home still talk about that one!)

In this day and age of categories, you could pigeon hole me under ‘Country and Mid-Western with a touch of Swamp.’ See ya on the radio. Thanks for your time!
